Heya, I'm Tara

One or two of my friends would insist I say “Dr. Tara,” because yes, I worked hard on my PhD. But honestly? That title is just one part of what makes me, me.
I’m a daughter, auntie, teacher, coach, entrepreneur, musician, mentor, and importantly, a friend. No, I’m not a mum. Yes, I’m divorced. And yes, I’m both Barbadian and British (we could spend hours talking about that immigration journey).
In the past five years, I’ve fallen in love with indoor plants and do a little bit of gardening. I live in a flat, so I don’t have a ton of space, but I make the most of what I’ve got. So yes… I am definitely at that age.
I read for fun (sometimes for development, but mostly for fun). I sing to process both the big and small emotions. I don’t have a poker face. And like so many others, I’m on a lifelong journey of growth and learning as I work towards love, success, and happiness.
Also, I love food. Eating it, sharing it, talking about it. Food, like music, brings people together, so paired with friends or family... it is wonderful.

Why I Coach
Taking a leap of faith to start my coaching and mentoring business in 2023 was, honestly, an adventure. Which is to say: scary, with moments of drive, self-doubt, determination, and deep joy.
Those moments of joy? Almost always my clients.
Whether in a one-off session, a group, or over time, I’ve loved supporting each person I’ve worked with. Seeing the impact of coaching; the clarity it brings, the shift in self-belief, the momentum it sparks for so many, reminds me why I do this.
I coach because I care deeply about people.
Helpfulness is one of my core values, alongside friendship, love, capability, and honesty. I want others to succeed. I want to help them get past the wobbles, see themselves more clearly, and build unshakeable confidence in who they are and what they can do.

What I Bring
I bring all of me to this work. That includes my formal coaching qualifications, teaching experience and mental health first aid training, but also my lived experience: as a Black woman raised in the Caribbean, now living in the UK, away from my family. I bring my big heart, my capacity for care, and my belief in the power of clarity, confidence, and community. Whether it's through 1:1 coaching, group coaching or mentorship, or one-off workshops, I’m here to help create safe, affirming spaces where you can grow and thrive, on your own terms |
